Info

The church is a monument more ancient than Pianezza, and is of remarkable historical and artistic importance. It is situated on a site of ancient worship. The construction of the Pieve is dated to the first half of the 12th century, with only a single nave, the façade of which is perhaps the church's most significant feature. The pictorial decoration was initiated by Giacomo Jaquerio and followers of his school in the first decades of the fifteenth century. The hand of the master is expressed with solemn drama on the wall at the bottom of the apse with the crucifixion and the figures of the virgin, Saint John, Mary Magdelena and various other saints.
