The long tunnel still existing, which takes its name from the courageous pianezzese Maria Bricca - who contributed to the downfall of the French siege during the War of the Spanish Succession in 1706 – has its origin from the double wall reinforced by a barrel vault raised in support of the embankment of the Italian garden that surrounded the ancient castle of Pianezza.
