Built in the middle of the seventeenth century as the Carthusian cenoby in a vast park, it has a monumental entrance portal created on a project by Filippo Juvarra. Under Carthusian monks period it was enriched with new constructions, such as "Chapel of the Supreme order of the Holy Mother" and the vault "Tomb of Knight corpse". In 1852 the entire complex was used as the Royal Insane Asylum and was radically renovated. The immense green area was only transformed into a public park following the abolition of psychiatric hospitals.
