Info

The Via Maestra (originally also known as Contrada Granda, now Via Mensa) was the urban element around which the village, back then known as Altessano Superiore, was reshaped in the second half of the 17th century on the project of the First Court Architect Amedeo di Castellamonte. Piazza della SS. Annunziata is a square conceived as a relatively wide area, interrupting the long axis of the Via Maestra (now Via Mensa), dedicated to the Annunciation of Mary. Looking onto the Piazza dell’Annunziata is the church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary designed by Castellamonte.
